Former Linebacker Aldon Smith was arrested for the third time in a couple of months this week. The latest arrest occurred on April 6, 2018 after allegedly violating the terms of his bail agreement. Aldon Smith is required to wear a GPS monitoring device and SCRAM bracelet that monitors alcohol consumption 24 hours a day, 7 days a week as a condition of his release. In the current case bail was set at $500,000. Smith is set to appear in court on Wednesday.
The embattled football player rose to fame as a linebacker for powerhouse teams like the San Francisco49ers and Oakland Raiders. In 2011, Smith was the first-round pick of the 49ers. He has been in-and-out of custody on a number of criminal issues including driving under the influence, possession of illegal firearms, domestic violence and violating court orders.

The SCRAM Continuous Alcohol Monitoring device that Smith is required to wear monitors alcohol consumption as sweat is excreted through the skin. The device is worn on his ankle and can detect alcohol consumption almost immediately. Smith has been arrested for driving under the influence three times since 2012.
