GPS

Real-time location tracking

GPS tracking is the most secure form of electronic monitoring, designed to track the location and movement of individuals under legal supervision. Commonly applied as a condition of parole or probation, when properly utilized it can be a critical tool for behavioral change and public safety.

The hardware

DMS Options utilizes the latest in GPS tracking technology. The bracelets’ innovative, no-strap design minimizes tampering and removal risks while significantly reducing installation and can even be remotely unlocked. Location data is captured every 30 seconds and reported every two minutes, balancing industry leading tracking accuracy with reduced daily charge times.

The software

While the bracelet is designed for security and reliability, the tracking software provides peace of mind. Geofencing allows officers to set up virtual boundaries for where the participant is required to be, such as home during curfew or at work during scheduled hours, or forbidden from entering, like the victim’s home or school. Violations can be reported immediately along with notifications to multiple agencies.

Pairing GPS location monitoring with the Victim Notification mobile app can provide an increased layer of security. If the GPS participant comes into close proximity of the victim, the victim is immediately notified and can take the appropriate action.

It’s important to note that while GPS tracking can be highly effective at keeping participants accountable and reducing recidivism, it is simply a monitoring tool, not a physical barrier. Its success relies on identifying qualified participants and the speed of response to violations.
