What Is SCRAM?
SCRAM stands for Secure, Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitor. The SCRAM CAM (Continuous Alcohol Monitoring) device is used throughout the United States and across the globe to help detect alcohol consumption. It is commonly used for repeat drunk driving offenders, in family law matters, and as a component of pre-trial release.
If you live or have been arrested in Murrieta or Temecula and are facing alcohol-related charges, the SCRAM CAM device may help alleviate the consequences of your case. It is important to discuss your case with a qualified criminal defense attorney to determine your legal options.
How Does the SCRAM CAM Bracelet Work?
The SCRAM CAM bracelet uses transdermal alcohol testing to determine if a person has consumed alcohol. It automatically tests for alcohol consumption every 30 minutes. The test is nearly imperceptible to the wearer of the device.
When alcohol is consumed, the vast majority metabolizes in the liver but a small percentage is expelled throughout the body including through the skin. The bracelet tests the alcohol expelled through the skin (your sweat).
Why Is the SCRAM CAM Device Effective?
The bracelet is worn 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for the required monitoring period. It is tamper-proof and water-resistant meaning that clients are able to live a normal life without being encumbered by breath testing or other reporting.
The device requires accountability since wearers cannot skip tests. It is worn around the clock. Offenders are unable to drink between tests without being detected. The device can also be equipped with optional house arrest. Therefore, the SCRAM CAM device with optional house-arrest monitoring can not only detect if someone has been drinking but also if they are complying with any curfews.
What Special Features Are There on the SCRAM CAM Device?
The device is equipped with a state-of-the-art strap and waterproof design. The strap is built of hypo-allergenic soft rubber. Anti-tamper technology helps monitoring agencies detect any attempts to disable or circumvent testing.
With the flip of a switch, the SCRAM CAM device can add house arrest or curfew monitoring. The SCRAM wireless base station can communicate through more options than ever including Wi-Fi, a landline, ethernet cable, or cellular. It comes with a 48-hour backup battery and memory storage in the event of a power failure.
What Is SCRAM House Arrest?
Over 22,000 clients have been monitored on the SCRAM house arrest ankle bracelet nationwide. The device is designed to be used with low-risk clients including community corrections and family law matters. As with the SCRAM Continuous Alcohol Monitoring device, the SCRAM wireless base station can connect via several options including cellular, Wi-Fi, an ethernet cable, or a landline.
Installation of the SCRAM CAM or SCRAM house arrest bracelet can be installed in 30 seconds. It is easy and low-maintenance. The device is equipped with multiple anti-tamper systems such as cut-strap detection. There are few false alerts of attempts to circumvent testing. The design is also waterproof allowing wearers to shower as normal during the monitoring period.
SCRAM house arrest now offered for clients in Murrieta, Temecula and all of Riveside County who would be appearing in the Southwest Justice Center Court.
What Is SCRAM GPS Monitoring?
The SCRAM GPS monitoring device is designed for high-risk clients who need monitoring 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It provides detailed information about a client’s position. SCRAM GPS monitoring can be used for sex and violent offenders, domestic violence cases, and hardcore repeat offenders.
The strap, as on other SCRAM products, is designed to reduce false alerts. The device also has superior location technology. It has GPS and A-GPS location technology that gives accurate, real-time information.
