Options Outpatient is a certified provider for Prop 36

Eligible, non-violent drug offenders can choose court-mandated treatment at zero cost instead of jail time

In 2024, California’s Proposition 36 introduced sweeping changes to drug and theft-related offenses, including the option of court-mandated treatment for individuals convicted of certain drug possession offenses rather than prison. Successfully completing the program can lead to the dismissal and expungement of their charges.

In Orange County, these court-ordered services are administered and tracked by the OC Health Care Agency and referred through the collaborative courts. The county partners with a network of state-licensed community-based organizations, clinics, and residential facilities to offer the services.

OC's only treatment program covered by Medi-Cal

Options Outpatient by DMS has worked with the Orange County Health Care Agency to become the county’s only intensive outpatient program completely covered by California Medi-Cal. Participants who qualify can undergo substance abuse and mental health treatment at zero cost.

Options offers daily intake interviews to ensure immediate program enrollment and avoid incarceration. Daily individual or group sessions are led by licensed therapists and offered in English, Spanish or Vietnamese.
