Understanding SCRAMx Technology

What Is Home Confinement/Curfew Compliance?

SCRAMx technology combines state-of-the-art continuous alcohol monitoring with curfew compliance monitoring for high-risk offenders. The device is tamperproof and water-resistant utilizing the same innovative components as the SCRAM Continuous Alcohol Monitoring device. The single device is worn on the ankle and fits under most pant legs.

It includes several features including:

  • RF/Location Tests
  • Transdermal Alcohol Tests
  • Anti-Tamper Tests

The device can transmit data through standard or digital phone lines, home internet service, or an optional wireless system provided by SCRAM. The base station for the SCRAMx device is the smallest on the market allowing for discrete placement within the home. The SCRAMx device is the latest in home curfew/house arrest monitoring technology.

Qualifying for House Arrest

To qualify for house arrest/home confinement, you most likely have to be a non-violent offender. It is an alternative to jail for individuals who meet certain criteria. You cannot be seen as a threat to public safety and will likely have to pay for the device out of your own pocket. In some cases, there may be government programs that can help subsidize the cost.

It is important to discuss your case with your attorney to determine whether you would qualify for home confinement.

The SCRAMx device may be useful for individuals who are accused of repeat DUI offenses, underage drinking, or other alcohol-related charges. It is a productive alternative to jail, that allows a person to remain out of custody while they await an outcome on their case. It is also commonly used in family law matters.
