Staying Sober on St. Paddy’s Day

How to Enjoy an Alcohol-Free St. Patrick’s Day

St. Patrick’s Day has become synonymous with drinking. For the past decade, the Sober St. Patrick’s Day Foundation, Inc. has been on a mission to reclaim the holiday. This year, the event will be held virtually on March 17, 2021.

As noted on the website soberstpatricksday.org, the “Global Virtual Celebration” will take place at 4:00 pm in New York and 8:00 pm in Ireland. You can register to participate in this free, family-friendly event. The celebration focuses on understanding the reason St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated and as noted by their mission statement:

“To reclaim the true spirit of St. Patrick’s Day by changing the perception and experience from an occasion for binge drinking and other misuse of alcohol to a celebration of the richness of Irish culture and the legacy of St. Patrick.”

For those interested in the event you can Donate to the foundation, Sponsor the event or Sign up for a newsletter – all through their website. You can even learn more about hosting a Sober St. Patrick’s Day event in 2022.

Family-friendly, alcohol-free events that celebrate these time-honored holidays help to remove the pressure of drinking. People from all around the world will be coming together to celebrate. Registration for the event is free and confidential.
