How does the Scram Bracelet work?

Scram Bracelet works by transdermal testing a sample of perspiration from your skin every 30 minutes for alcohol 24 hours a day.

Does the Scram bracelet test for drugs?

The Scram bracelet does not test for drugs. It is a transdermal test for alcohol only.

Is Scram a GPS device?

Scram bracelet is not a GPS device however, Scram X is another product we offer that does both transdermal alcohol testing and home confinement monitoring.

Can I go swimming, Is Scram waterproof?

While you are not allowed to submerge the bracelets in water (swimming pools, hot tubs, the bath tub), you can shower, and in fact you need to shower in order to keep the area around the bracelet clean.

Can I still exercise with Scram?

Exercise will have no impact to the functions of the bracelet. For comfort, you might want to wear a sweat band or a sock rolled down to prevent the bracelet from “bouncing” on the ankle bone. Just make sure nothing gets between the bracelet and leg.

What products should I stay away from while using the Scram Bracelet?

We recommend you avoid using any products on or near the bracelet that contain alcohol. The application of small quantities of cologne or perfume in areas far from the bracelet should not be problematic. Avoid lotions or any other products with alcohol on or near the bracelet.

Do I need a phone line? Not necessarily. We can use a router or multi-connect which simply needs a power plug.

How much does the Scram device cost a month?

There is a one-time installation that covers installation, maintenance, and any unintentional damages to equipment. There will also be a daily monitoring fee, which is based on program-specific criteria and will apply during the duration of your monitoring program.

Do I have to be court ordered to wear a Scram Bracelet?

No. You may voluntarily participate in an alcohol monitoring program in an effort to be proactive toward your case. It gives your attorney more tools to help them fight your case.

Does Scram Bracelet make noise?

When the SCRAM bracelet takes a reading every 30 minutes, a light buzzing sound can be heard, but is generally less than 1 second and is no louder than a cell phone on vibrate mode.

Can I hide, or cover up the Scram bracelet while I am wearing it? You can cover up the bracelet with an ace bandage, or a flexible knee brace, but you must be careful not to get anything in between the bracelet and the skin. (this may cause a tamper)

Does the SCRAM bracelet need to be charged?

No, the battery will typically last about 90 days without needing to be re-charged.

Can I travel while wearing SCRAM bracelet?

Yes, we can provide you with a travel letter explaining the device.
