Elizabeth Funk, 47, an early Yahoo executive, entered a guilty plea to driving under the influence. According to the California Highway Patrol, Funk’s blood alcohol level was four times the legal limit. At the time of her arrest, her 11-year-old was in the back seat of her car. She rear-ended the vehicle ahead of her, veering off the highway and crashing into a fence at around 6:40 pm on December 15. In addition to driving under the influence, she was charged with child endangerment. Her blood alcohol level registered .32 and .33 according to the Marin County District Attorney’s Office. At the time of her arrest, she told officers she was going to a medical appointment for her daughter.
As a condition of her release, Funk agreed to remain completely sober wearing an alcohol monitoring device such as a SCRAM Continuous Alcohol Monitoring bracelet. The device tests for alcohol consumption every 30 minutes, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Currently, Funk is a Senior General Partner at DevEquity providing “for-profit venture-style investment to social enterprises in Latin America. In addition, Funk is the founder and CEO of the Dignity Fund, “an innovative for-profit social impact fund which has funded 23 Microfinance organizations around the globe.” Her resume is impressive including past stints at Yahoo, Microsoft and a degree from Harvard.
